Prague - The first phase of the modifications to the Podskalská náplavka, including the reconstruction of the vaults in the embankment wall, should be completed this April or May. The city will also likely reduce the plans of the previous leadership, which included the construction of several pools in the Vltava. This was stated today by Prague's councilor for property, Jan Chabr (TOP 09). The náplavka in Podskalí is a popular destination for Prague residents and is the busiest of all Prague náplavkas. It is managed by the city company Trade Centre Praha (TCP).

According to Chabr, the plans of the previous representation included the creation of several pools and significant investments in the náplavka on the Smíchov side of the Vltava, with total costs estimated at 1.8 billion crowns. "I do not reject that. However, I say let's do it a bit more conservatively because there is no money for it in this year's budget, and it would mean prioritizing it perhaps at the expense of transport investments," he stated.

The revitalization of the náplavkas will continue, but at a slower pace and with lower costs. This may mean, for example, limiting the pools that were supposed to be created in the river. "There won't be six, but perhaps just one," said the councilor.

The revitalization of the náplavkas was initiated by the city last year, and the first phase is projected to cost 225 million crowns. It includes repairs of the vaults, the construction of network infrastructure, or the placement of new furnishings. In the next phase, a pier or pool is to be built, and work on the project will begin now.

The Prague náplavkas are managed by the city company TCP, which recently established the position of coordinator. This person is responsible for preparing a program in such a way that it does not disturb local residents, who have long complained about noisy events by the river. For this reason, the city district of Prague 2 wants the management of the Podskalská náplavka to be transferred to it.

Councilor Chabr also mentioned today regarding TCP that the company will undergo reorganization. Currently, there is a nine-member supervisory board in the company, which is expected to be reduced to a maximum of five people, and the board of directors will have three members instead of five. "We would like TCP to play a significant role as a manager of municipal real estate," added the councilor. The city currently has contracts with several management companies that should gradually transition to this city firm.
