Zlín - The Town Hall in Uherský Brod is preparing a large-scale renovation of the central Masaryk Square. The city, where over 17,000 residents live, aims to obtain part of the funding from the European Union for the regeneration. The total costs are expected to exceed 30 million crowns, said the mayor of the city, Ladislav Kryštof, today to ČTK. Moreover, from Monday, drivers will face changes in traffic organization.

According to the town hall, the current appearance of the square does not meet today's standards. "The reconstruction includes, for example, the replacement of street lighting, planting greenery, or new street furniture. There will also be additional parking spaces," noted the mayor. However, the city will start construction only after potential allocation of a grant from European funds.
In connection with the reconstruction, the organization of road traffic in the square will also change. Given that the repairs will take a longer time, the town hall has decided to implement changes starting at the end of October. The direction of travel will change on some one-way streets, allowing the square to be entirely circled. In addition, 14 parking spaces will be created here.
