U. Hradiště - Uherskohradišťská Hospital has completed the construction of the central surgical departments building. Several departments that previously used various pavilions on the hospital grounds will move into it, as those were already in poor condition. The construction is finished, and selection processes for the equipment are currently underway; the facility is expected to start serving patients and doctors at the turn of October and November. This was stated today by the hospital director Petr Sládek. The hospital invested 320 million crowns in the construction of the pavilion, and an additional approximately 80 million crowns will be required for the equipment. "The projected cost was 590 million, but the bidding has significantly reduced that," Sládek noted. The hospital took out a loan for the new building, which will be repaid over 20 years. The regional office is financing the adjustment of the infrastructure around the central pavilion, and more than a hundred parking spaces have also been added to the hospital premises. The central pavilion will host surgery, orthopedics, traumatology, urology, ENT, and ophthalmology departments. There will also be intensive care units, anesthesiology-resuscitation beds, central operating rooms with central sterilization, and a combined bed fund. A pharmacy will also be added. Due to the change in the regime and the combined bed fund, 15 healthcare workers will lose their jobs. The change will bring greater comfort to both doctors and patients. "There will be new technologies, new operating rooms, modern outpatient clinics, patients will not have to be transported across the hospital grounds for examinations, the building simply corresponds to the year 2014," the director stated. Rooms will be single and double occupancy with bathrooms; some departments previously had up to five beds in a room. Uherskohradišťská Hospital was the only one of the four hospitals established by the Zlín Region to operate in profit last year, amounting to 6.5 million crowns. Overall, the regional hospitals ended with a record loss of 270 million crowns. The worst off was the Zlín hospital, whose loss amounted to 192 million crowns. According to the regional authority, the hospitals found themselves in a difficult situation mainly due to the reimbursement regulation; this year, the regulation is more favorable.
