Stašov (Svitavsko) – Near the village of Stašov close to Polička in the Svitavy region, the most powerful wind turbine in the Czech Republic could be built. The company PV Consulting wants to construct a wind turbine with an installed capacity of up to 7.2 megawatts (MW). Residents who participated in the survey largely agreed with the plan, although some people criticized it, said mayor Alena Vendolská to ČTK.
"The people chose, which is why we conducted the survey. Now, since we are elected by the citizens, we should proceed according to what they have chosen," stated Vendolská.
On the Drašarov hill by the road from Polička to Brněnec, the investor intends to build a mast with a rotor diameter of up to 162 meters and a capacity of up to 7.2 MW; a smaller installation with a capacity of 4.2 MW is also possible. The nearest houses are 850 meters away. For each installed MW of capacity, the company offers the municipality a payment of 300,000 crowns per year, which represents an annual contribution of 2.16 million crowns for the larger variant. Stašov has an annual budget of around six million crowns. The company also promises residents supplies of the produced electricity for 2.5 crowns excluding VAT for 20 years. If the power plant is built, no more can be constructed in the surrounding area due to insufficient capacity of the high-voltage lines.
According to the mayor, the investor has already secured capacity reservation in the transmission network from ČEZ Distribuce. "We will now negotiate a future contract regarding whether we will lease the land to them. The plan will have to undergo an environmental impact assessment (EIA) and will need to change the zoning plan. It is a process that will take several years," said Vendolská.
The largest wind turbine in the region with a capacity of 4.2 MW was built by S & M CZ near Žipotín in the Svitavy region. It replaced one of the wind turbines that had been there since 2006. This made the permitting process easier, as the project did not require an EIA assessment.
In the village of Krouna in the Chrudim region and its local parts, a referendum will be held on November 11 regarding the construction of a large wind farm in the local part of Františky. The same investor as in Stašov wants to build a wind turbine with a capacity of up to 6.5 MW there. On the same day, a referendum will also take place in Anenská Studánka in the Orlickoústecko region, where residents will answer the question: "Do you agree with the construction of wind turbines in the territory of the municipality of Anenská Studánka and with signing a cooperation agreement with the municipality on a joint project with NOHO Energy?".
The company ČEZ Obnovitelné zdroje also has plans to build around ten wind turbines. They are to be located in several municipalities in the Svitavy region, although specific details have not yet been provided by the company. Additional wind turbines could be in the Orlickoústecko region.
