Trutnov - A new retirement home, Humlův dvůr, was opened today in Trutnov, with construction costs of nearly 140 million crowns. The city also spent nearly 25 million crowns on the interior furnishings of the facility. The new building will accommodate 93 seniors, who are expected to start moving in at the turn of January and February. This was stated today by Deputy Mayor Tomáš Hendrych. The construction of the home began in July 2007 and was completed in November 2008. Work on the interior furnishings finished this month. The municipality paid nearly 56 million crowns for the construction, while approximately 84 million crowns was received by the city as a subsidy from the state budget. In the four-story building, in addition to rooms with private sanitary facilities, there are facilities for the staff of the home, a doctor's office, a rehabilitation area, and a gym. The currently operating retirement home in Trutnov offered 36 beds, which was insufficient for the city. "The demand for places in the retirement home was higher; the new facility should largely meet the needs," said Hendrych. According to him, seniors will move into the new home according to the waiting lists available to the municipality. In the Hradec Králové Region, tens of millions of crowns are invested annually in the construction of new and renovation of existing social facilities. For example, the Hradec Králové region plans to renovate a retirement home in Černožice for more than 121 million crowns. The repairs will also involve the expansion of the entire building. Repairs are also expected for the retirement homes in Teplice nad Metují in the Náchod region and in Lampertice in the Trutnov region.
