Moravská Třebová - The Hedva textile company is demolishing unused buildings at the former plant 01 at the intersection of Lanškrounská and Nádražní streets. The areas will be offered to developers, or partially used for its own needs. Only some buildings will remain with the state, said the company's director Jiří Ošlejšek to ČTK.

"We need to preventively clean the area. It disfigures the city, poses a risk for uninvited visitors, and we have to keep an eye on it. In the future, we will occasionally need to build auxiliary spaces here, such as warehouses," he explained.

According to him, the available prepared land will also be more interesting for potential investors. A joint project could also be negotiated.

In addition to the former operational buildings, the oldest of which was built in the 1870s, a building with a former gatehouse will also be removed. On the other hand, the chimney of the abandoned factory with the former boiler room, transformer station, and storage hall will be preserved. The demolitions are expected to finish by the end of the year. Production at the site ceased in 1993 when it moved to modernized facilities.

The former Hedva plant near the railway station is the largest brownfield in the city. Hedva still owns the site, and its previous negotiations with retail chains regarding the placement of one of their stores were unsuccessful. Some of the buildings, along with a new hall, were rented out a few years ago to a local auto parts manufacturer Rehau and another smaller company.
