Jeseník - The Jeseník councilors should have a clear idea about the design of the new wellness center by mid-July. By this time, studies should be completed, which will be prepared by two companies at the request of the town hall. The city will pay each company 170,000 crowns for their work. This was reported today by mayor Marie Fomiczewová (ČSSD). The original project worth around 300 million crowns was halted by the Jeseník councilors in mid-April. The main reason was the cost of the aquapark. The Jeseník wellness center is expected to become a key building in the region. "We commissioned two renowned companies to prepare studies. The studies should determine the location, size, content, and parameters of the wellness center. From these two studies, the better one will be selected or a compilation will be made. It should be ready by mid-July for further discussion at the town council," said the mayor. Experts are expected to focus, among other things, on the outdoor appearance. "This is a study on which a project could be based," added Fomiczewová. The councilors last discussed the design of the new aquapark in April. At that time, they rejected the original concept of the aquapark worth around 300 million crowns, which experts attempted to reduce by 25 million crowns at the last minute. Opponents labeled the project as megalomaniac and costly in both investment and operation. Instead, they approved that the city would embark on a completely new project worth around 220 million crowns. The issue of constructing the wellness center has been addressed by the Jeseník town hall for several years. This intention appeared in the city's planned investment projects back in 2007. It took on a specific form when the existing city swimming pool ceased to meet hygiene standards for water quality and discussions began about its complete reconstruction. The project has been addressed multiple times by councilors and became a central topic of public meetings. To date, the city has already invested millions into the preparation. The town hall anticipates that due to the new design of the wellness center, it will have to sell part of the municipal property, and the city is also counting on a subsidy. The town hall could potentially receive a total of 50 million crowns for the project from a private entity based on a preliminary contract. The city already has approximately ten million crowns available for the project. In mid-May, the town hall launched new official project pages, which contain not only previously prepared materials for the original variant but mainly all information about the progress in preparing the new intention with lower investment costs.
