Prague - The Central Bohemian Region is preparing a complete reconstruction of the historical building of the Podlipan Museum in Český Brod in the Kolín district. The regional councilors today agreed to announce a public procurement for the project documentation for the building permit. The start of the repairs is planned for next year, informed CTK spokesman of the regional office David Šíma today.

The costs for the project documentation are estimated at 2.9 million crowns. Most of this should be covered by EU grants. The museum is housed in a Art Nouveau building designed by architect Antonín Balšánek and forms one of the dominant features of the historical villa district of the city. "Given the historical value of the building, we plan to conduct a historical survey of the entire structure as part of the reconstruction," said the regional councilor for investments, property, and public procurement Libor Lesák (ODS).

The Podlipan Museum is part of the Regional Museum in Kolín. It was founded in 1896. The museum's exhibitions provide insight into the historic Battle of Lipany from 1434 and briefly cover the earlier history of the former royal town of Český Brod. Several seasonal exhibitions and accompanying programs take place there each year.
