Neratovice – The construction of a new church in Neratovice in the Mělník region is set to begin next year. The building permit could be issued in January or February, according to Neratovice priest Peter Kováč, but construction is likely to start only in the second half of the year, Kováč told ČTK today.
The land where the church will be built already has water and electricity connected. "We will be preparing the sewage system and gas," Kováč stated. According to him, the start date for construction will also depend on the availability of funds. The construction of the church will cost approximately 80 million crowns. Part will be provided by the Archdiocese of Prague, part will be contributed by the Neratovice parish, and just under half of the expenses will come from donors.
The church, which will be built according to the design of architect Zdeněk Franěk, will include a multifunctional center where concerts, exhibitions, and other social activities will be held.
Neratovice became a town in 1957, and there has been no church here. Gradually, several municipalities, including Lobkovice, where the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary is located, became part of it.
