Mělník - The construction of Central Bohemian marinas for recreational vessels in Mělník and Poděbrady is set to begin in November and December. Work on five additional marinas in Central Bohemia will start next year. Several marinas should be operational for the summer navigation season of 2021, but the exact date will depend on the progress of the tender for the contractor. The Directorate of Waterways (ŘVC), which is the investor for the constructions, is trying to ensure that as many of them as possible are operational in the summer. Jan Bukovský, spokesperson for the ŘVC, stated this in response to an inquiry from ČTK.

The ŘVC has construction permits for seven Central Bohemian marinas, and the tender for contractors for the marinas in Mělník and Poděbrady will be announced in the coming days, while the tender for Čelákovice, Nymburk, Kolín, Brandýs, and Davle will be held in the autumn.

At the same time, the construction of four marinas in the Ústí nad Labem region is being prepared: in Děčín, in Ústí nad Labem - Brné, in Roudnice nad Labem, and in Štětí. The ŘVC also intends to announce a tender for the construction supplier for these marinas in the coming days.

"All the aforementioned marinas will definitely be completed in 2021," Bukovský stated.

According to earlier plans, work was supposed to start in some marinas in September and October. Bukovský said that delays were caused by the administration of the procurement process and coordination with designers, which was further complicated by coronavirus measures.

Preparatory work, according to the spokesperson, is proceeding smoothly for other marinas as well, and the ŘVC considers it realistic for construction work to begin on the marinas in Lysá nad Labem, Oseč, Klecánky, and Štěchovice in 2021 and 2022.

In contrast, work on the preparation of the Neratovice marina has not yet progressed. The ŘVC is waiting for official information from the town, which has been considering a possible change of location from where the marina was originally intended to be built.
