Jihlava - The Railway Administration will start repairs this year on the heritage-protected station building in Světlá nad Sázavou in the Havlíčkův Brod region, costing approximately 47 million crowns. The facilities for passengers should improve there, with new bicycle boxes and bike racks being added. The state organization also plans to start modifying the station building in Velké Meziříčí in the Žďár region this year and will complete renovations at three other stations.

The total costs of these five investment projects, according to the Railway Administration, exceed 190 million crowns.

Světlá nad Sázavou is located on the express train line between Havlíčkův Brod, Kolín, and Prague. The older part of the local station building dates back to the 1870s, and its second half was completed at the beginning of the last century during the expansion of the transport route. The Railway Administration will, for example, install new toilets, modify entrances, and the hall and waiting area, as well as the ceilings. The building will be fully accessible, the organization stated.

The reconstruction of the station building in Sklené nad Oslavou, costing over 14 million crowns, will be completed in March on the line from Žďár nad Sázavou to Brno, and the renovation of the Křižanov station will be finished in August for 58 million crowns. Workers have also been repairing the track between these two stations since last year. According to earlier information from the administration, work on the nine kilometers of this double-track line should also be completed this summer.

In April, the renovation of the station building in Třebíč will be completed, costing 27.5 million crowns. The building has been newly insulated, and its roof and toilets have been repaired. Six years ago, a terminal was opened at the Třebíč station, allowing the connection of bus and train services. This station is on the line connecting Jihlava and Brno.
