Opava – A part of this year’s Architecture Day festival program will be the installation of a large city model in Opava, as well as an exhibition mapping the transformation of the city in recent decades. This was stated by the city spokesperson, Roman Konečný, to ČTK. The festival will take place at various locations in the city from September 27 to October 6.

"A week full of guided tours, walks, lectures, film screenings, and other cultural events dedicated not only to architecture is being prepared by the organizations Spolek architektury města, Za Opavu, KUPE, Opavská kulturní organizace, and the city of Opava,” the spokesperson said.

This year’s 14th edition of the festival will be ceremoniously launched on September 27 in the arcades of Dvořákovy sady. The opening will feature a vernissage of the exhibition of photographs Opava: The Transformation Process..

"This year’s edition will also include the display of a city model from 1983 in the building of the former Slezanka shopping center on Horní náměstí. The model was created based on the city’s new urban plan from that time. Its inspiration came from a similar model of Ostrava. The initiator of the construction was the then District National Committee. The aim was to create a model that would allow not only researchers and historians a glimpse into the past,” he stated. Interested parties can view it from September 28 to October 27.
