Vyškov – The scouts in Vyškov have a new facility; instead of construction trailers from the 1980s, they have acquired a partially passive wooden building. The construction took a year and cost 16 million crowns. This was reported by Klára Smejkal, the media reporter for the regional scout organization, in a press release.

The building includes four separate clubrooms, which will provide a base for the activities of more than 250 scouts from seven scout troops. Each clubroom also features a so-called living gallery, providing space on the second floor.

"The new scout house was made possible primarily thanks to the long-term well-functioning children's troops. The new facility is another boost of energy for many scout volunteers and an opportunity to further develop their activities. After taking over the building, we still have to implement the interior furnishings and furniture, which we will largely do ourselves and divide into several phases over the next few years, depending on how successfully we can secure funding," said Petr Kudlička, the leader of the scout center in Vyškov.

Until now, the scouts in Vyškov were based in a more than 40-year-old provisional wooden building, which had provided shelter for construction workers back in the 1980s. However, it began to gradually deteriorate and became insufficient for the scouts in terms of capacity. The idea of building a new clubroom was first proposed by the scouts back in 2012 when they launched their first architectural competition. It was only seven years later that they managed to secure financial support from the city of Vyškov and the South Moravian Region. A significant portion of the budget also came from a large number of small donations. Through the website Darujme.cz, the scouts managed to raise nearly 750,000 crowns from more than 500 supporters.

In addition to the scouts, the new wooden building will also house the Mother's Center Radost and will be designated for other leisure activities. The grand opening of the building is planned for November 20th.
