Blansko - The planned revitalization of the Zborovce housing estate in Blansko will require tens of millions of crowns, and work is set to start next year. The plan includes about five phases, one each year, said the city's investment officer Alois Šmerda to ČTK.

There are about a thousand apartments in the Zborovce housing estate. According to Šmerda, the result of the regeneration should be an improvement in living conditions in the estate so that they are comparable to living in traditional urban development. "Key problematic areas in the estate will be addressed, including the reconstruction of pedestrian routes and paved areas, the construction of new pedestrian paths, modifications to public green spaces, as well as the planting of mature trees and grassing of areas," said Šmerda. The city will also propose new parking spaces, and the renovation will also affect children’s playgrounds. The city wants to replace the existing furniture and supplement it with new pieces.

According to Šmerda, about a quarter of the estate has been designed. For example, the area of Krajní 2,4 and Okružní 1 has been resolved, as well as the buildings at Zborovecká 58 and 60. People can still express their opinions on the changes. Last year, the city distributed about 1,000 survey questionnaires in the estate, and about a fifth of them were returned. "Respondents most frequently mentioned requests mainly for expanding parking areas, adding urban furniture, reconstructing and supplementing sidewalks, and creating park and relaxation areas," said Šmerda.

The city has repairs for the housing estate planned in about five phases, with each phase estimated to cost around 10 million CZK according to Šmerda. The city wants to start the revitalization next year, but it depends on whether it receives a grant from the Ministry for Regional Development. The ministry provides a grant of up to four million crowns for these projects, with the remainder expected to be covered by the city budget.
