Teplice – Teplice has signed a contract with the winner of the competition for complete project documentation for the outdoor swimming pool. It is to be created under the water tank in the Nová Ves district. The documentation will provide an estimate of construction costs. The councilors will then decide whether to build the swimming pool. Mayor Hynek Hanza (ODS) stated this to journalists.
The winner of the competition is the company Sial. According to Hanza, the cost of creating the documentation is approximately 18.5 million crowns. The winner will now prepare, and once they have a solution proposal, a working group will meet, consisting of representatives from the design office, council clubs, architect Petr Sedláček, who prepared the study, and pool expert Bohumil Šťastný.
The working group will meet with the designers and refine what the city expects from the swimming pool. "Once it is finished, a price list will be created and the city will decide whether to build the swimming pool," Hanza noted. The city is capable of covering the investment from its own funds, having about 800 million crowns in its accounts, according to the mayor.
The swimming pool in Teplice has been missing for several years. In 2016, a search began for a site for a new one. Seven locations were identified, but ultimately the councilors rejected the possibility of returning the swimming pool to the castle garden, where the land is owned by private individuals. Experts then evaluated two variants, with the Nová Ves area coming out better.
The swimming pool itself is designed in a sloped terrain in Sedláček's study as a cascade, with a wading pool on the top level, below it a swimming pool with a diving platform, and at the lowest level a recreational pool with a waterslide. According to Sedláček, the costs for building stainless steel pools and the necessary technology are around 100 million crowns.
A park for leisure activities is to be created around the complex. The city would like to utilize the water tank as an observation tower. The capacity of the water cascade is calculated to be 800 people per hour. The area is currently expected to include a beach volleyball court, a sunbathing area, and a café. The exact design will be developed by the consulting group. The swimming pool is designed as a classic, 50 meters long with six racing lanes and a seven-meter diving tower, under which the depth will be 4.5 meters. The relaxation pool is planned to be heated by solar panels.
