Brno - The Festival of Architecture and Urbanism Open House Brno will allow visitors to explore over a hundred interesting buildings in Brno this weekend. In total, 74 of these can be visited without prior registration. At another 48 locations, organizers offered a limited number of spots with mandatory registration, which 3500 people claimed just minutes after the reservations opened, the festival management announced today in a press release.

"Every year, we strive to make the maximum number of buildings accessible without the need for a reservation, which we achieved this year with three-fifths of the participating locations, but it is not technically possible everywhere. I am glad that we were able to open up a few more locations this year. Our program includes both new additions, such as the wheelchair-accessible Rohrer Villa, which houses the Basic and Nursery School of Speech Therapy, as well as the gymnasiums in Husovice and Sokol Brno I, along with staples like DADA District and the DOMEQ Apartments buildings, a partner of the festival, CTP," said the creative director of Open House Brno 2024, Lucie Pešl Šilerová from the Culture & Management Association.

Tours without prior registration are offered by hotels such as Avion in the center of Brno and Cosmopolitan, formerly Boby or Passage. Visitors can also tour Arnold Villa in Černá Pole, whose reconstruction was completed last December.

The central theme of Open House Brno is inclusion, and the organizers invite people to several places that are primarily oriented towards minorities in society—whether it's the Café u Žambocha for the deaf, the Kociánka Social Services Center, or the Romani center Drom in Hvězdička Park.

The open house festival takes place on the weekend of May 18 and 19, and a list of participating buildings is available on its website. The accompanying program includes exhibitions, creative workshops, lectures, and discussions.

Open House Brno is part of Open House Worldwide, a network of over 50 cities around the globe holding architecture festivals for the public. The events attract more than two million people worldwide each year. Brno has been part of the network since 2018.
