Prague - The Prague City Hall will establish a working committee to address the future of the so-called Trojmezí between Prague 15, 11, and 10. It will also deal with the possible purchase of land from private owners. Jan Chabr, a Prague councilor (TOP 09), said this today. The councilor agreed on the formation of the group with representatives of the mentioned city halls. Trojmezí serves people from the surrounding housing estates for recreation. In the past, several plans for construction emerged, but they were opposed by residents, city halls, and the city hall.

"We have agreed on the creation of a working group, in which we will work for the city together with Deputy (Mayor Petr) Hlaváček, and there will be representatives from the affected city halls and the Institute of Planning and Development (IPR)," Chabr said.

The group will deal, among other things, with the inventory of all lands in Trojmezí. It will also address how to handle the extensive area in the future. "The first outputs will be at the end of March," Chabr said. Today, representatives of the city halls agreed on the preservation of the natural park, he added. The IPR should also prepare a study on the use of Trojmezí.

Prague 15 has already supported the purchase of land from private owners. However, it rejected the recent intent of the city for possible construction of affordable housing in part of the area. The preservation of green space and the use of the area as a relaxation zone is also supported by Prague 10.

Between 2006 and 2010, several development companies attempted to build on Trojmezí, but they were met with opposition from locals and subsequently from individual city halls and the city hall. Councilors discussed the proposed construction in October 2015 when they rejected a proposal to change the use of several plots of land where a developer wanted to build houses, shops, and schools. The then leadership of the city hall decided on the purchase and construction of affordable housing in 2018. The affected city halls drew up a memorandum against any construction.
