Prague - The leadership of Prague is counting on the construction of a second exit from the metro station C Vltavská, which was not completed in the past. It will be created as part of the planned development in the area of Bubnů-Zátorů. The space around the current exit will also change. In response to a question from ČTK, Deputy Mayor Adam Scheinherr (Prague Sobě) said today. In the past, Prague removed some unsightly parts at the exit and repaired artistic works. Now, together with DPP and the Gallery of the Capital City (GHMP), it has created a temporary open-air gallery and installed large-format photographs by Kevin V. Ton.
"In the area of today's old train station Prague-Bubny, it is expected that the overall construction and development of the Bubny-Zátory area will include the completion of the metro exit. All exits, as they will be planned and considered in the area study, are incorporated into the ground floor of the buildings," said Scheinherr.
The current southern exit and its surroundings will also be integrated into the future surrounding development. Here, the track layout will also change, and trams from the metro will go directly under the railway, not towards the riverbank. A new railway station will also be created. Towards the riverbank, Prague is planning the construction of a new concert hall, which could begin in at least six years. Conversely, the sculpture fauna and flora at the metro exit, which was repaired, should be preserved.
"However, we are thinking about how to temporarily transform this area, so two new pedestrian crossings have been created, unnecessary footbridges and artworks, Vltava and the fauna and flora sculpture, have been demolished. We are trying to pay attention to the space for passengers," said Scheinherr. A new exhibition will also be installed here every three months.
Vltavská is not the only station of the Prague metro where a second exit was planned but never completed; similar cases include Staroměstská and Strašnická on line A. In the case of Staroměstská, the city is having a study done for the construction of an exit. "We do not have the results yet; it is with the designer," said Scheinherr. According to him, the city is rather considering the completion of barrier-free exits. If any of the entrances were to be completed, it will likely be in the form of an elevator, as is the case at Národní třída on line B.
