Prague - The Prague 14 City Hall disagrees with the construction of a mega warehouse by Coca-Cola. The city's leadership is concerned about its size. According to the company's plan, it is to have the dimensions of two football fields and a height of 36 meters, comparable to that of a thirteen-story building, said City Hall spokesperson Tomáš Kvasnička to ČTK. Both the land-use committee and the city hall management oppose the project.

The warehouse is to be built on vacant land between the Libeň - Běchovice and Malešice - Běchovice railway lines heading towards Lomnická street. "We fundamentally disagree with the proposed plan in this form. It would represent a significant impact on the landscape and transportation services in the area. Coca-Cola has presented its oversized proposal to us without prior discussion, without knowing the opinion of the city hall, and directly requested preliminary approval. And of course, we cannot grant that," said Mayor Radek Vondra.
The city hall particularly dislikes the size of the warehouse. According to the submitted plans, it is to measure 150 by 115 meters and have a height of 36 meters. "Considering that the height of the surrounding buildings is a maximum of 22 meters, or seven floors, and most of the buildings in the immediate vicinity are family homes, it is unthinkable for us to even discuss this project and to assume that the city hall could agree to it," emphasized Deputy Mayor Lucie Svobodová (ČSSD).
The local leadership is also concerned that the number of trucks in the area will increase. The warehouse would serve not only the metropolis but also supply other regions.
