Architects are people too! Sometimes, whether they like it or not, they cook with water, but this time from flour under the supervision of chef Joža Gočár. Come and taste and evaluate how architects fare as cooks, get to know their projects, sneak a peek under the lid of their work, and not just the gastronomic one.
The winning architect-cook team wins a sack of flour!
A challenge for architects: As part of the site-specific festival Automatic Cultural Mills, which was launched on May 30 at the Automatic Mills of Josef Gočár in Pardubice and will last until June 14, 2013, an “automatic mini market” will take place in the courtyard on Sunday, June 9, 2013 – a pleasant Sunday afternoon combined with diverse tastes, aromas, a bit of fashion, nice books, theater, music, dance, architecture…
As one of the accompanying activities, we want to hold a small architectural-culinary competition (or perhaps better a showcase), so we call upon architects who are not afraid to cook with more than just water.
What is it about? Primarily about the presentation of architects, their work, architects as living, creative, and communicative personalities… And among other things, also architects - cooks - gourmets.
What will be the task? For June 9, 2013, prepare an original, tastefully and visually interesting competing dish, ensuring it meets the rules of at least one of these categories: 1. flour (the only required ingredient in the dish is flour), 2. architecture (any culinary interpretation of the concept of architecture), 3. Gočár (any culinary representation of architect Josef Gočár). It is possible to prepare one or more dishes in each category.
Both taste and originality will be evaluated. You can register as a team or as an individual.
How will it proceed? You can register for the competition by June 7, 2013, at this email, indicating whether you are registering as an individual or as a team, including the name of any architectural studio, your contact information, and at least a preliminary plan of which category/categories you will be preparing your delicacy for.
If your competition dish is to be boiled or baked, please plan for preparation in advance; only minor adjustments or reheating will be possible on site. Please communicate details with Šárka Zahálková: sarka@offcity.cz, 732 436 722.
We recommend preparing one sample - serving presentation and one tasting. Visitors will evaluate you, so let there be something to taste.
On site, you will have your own space – a table.
Besides your gourmet creation(s), please bring items such as your portfolios, sketches, project proposals, etc. (in reasonable amounts). Let your imagination run wild not only in cooking but also in presenting yourself as an architect or office.
Tasting and evaluation will take place from 2:00 PM to approximately 5:00 PM, with the announcement of results planned for 6:00 PM. The winner receives a sack of flour! What will it bring? An experience, pleasure, and last but not least, an opportunity for an unconventional, informal, and original presentation of architectural work.
