Liberec - Interest in housing, whether older or new, is significantly greater in the Liberec area than the supply from real estate agencies. People are increasingly utilizing investments in housing to store free financial resources, as their appreciation is better than when deposited in banks. Representatives from real estate agencies, developers, and financial advisors participating in the Housing 2006 event at the Cultural House in Liberec agreed on this today in response to a query from ČTK. The presentation, intended to assist those interested in better housing not only in choosing a property but also in financing it, was held in Liberec for the second time. Participants were satisfied with public interest today. "People's incomes are increasing, and more and more of them are trying to secure better housing, most often their own," said Michal Čapek from the Blue Pyramid Building Savings Bank to ČTK. Thanks to favorable interest rates, people are also increasingly utilizing building savings and loans from it, or mortgages, for financing. Jan Klika from the real estate agency Bydlíte.cz also confirmed this to ČTK today. He added that people are interested not only in new apartments but also in the older ones since they are significantly cheaper. However, demand is greater than supply. According to him, even apartments in worse condition that need renovation are selling well. "Many clients want to customize them according to their preferences, and their purchase can also be mostly covered by a loan," Klika told ČTK. Today, two companies showcased new housing options in Liberec - Interma presented cooperative construction in Harcov and Vlnařská Street, while Realing showcased more expensive apartments for private ownership in the luxurious Liberec locality of Horská. Over the last two years, however, the number of new construction projects in the hundred-thousand Liberec has been increasing, primarily in private ownership. Several new projects are in preparation, with a significant increase in interest in individual housing. This is also confirmed by information from the Czech Statistical Office. Of the 961 apartments for which construction began last year in the Liberec region, nearly 80 percent were in family houses. The most construction is taking place in the Liberec area, where the construction of 366 new apartments began last year, two-thirds of which represent individual construction.
