Pardubice - The Pardubice city council approved, by a large majority, the renovation of the park Na Špici, which is located at the confluence of the Elbe and Chrudimka rivers. The reconstruction will involve the park paths, and the largest children's playground in Pardubice or piers are planned to be built. The revitalization of the park is estimated to cost about 39 million crowns. The park should retain its natural character. According to Deputy Mayor František Brendel (Pardubáci), who presented the proposal, only sick trees or shrubs that hinder repairs or expansion of sports facilities should be removed. In total, about 150 trees are expected to be affected. A dendrological survey in the park was conducted by a specialist last week. Silvicultural measures, in which invasive trees are removed and trees are professionally pruned, are generally carried out in five-year cycles in parks, and the city would need to implement this even if the park was not awaiting repairs. The city, along with architects, will present how the park should look after the renovations to the public on February 1 in the Historical Hall of the Pardubice City Hall. Repairs will be made to the paths, which are currently cracked and uneven in some places, and the network will be supplemented. The city will also have the playground and other sports areas in the park reconstructed. The embankment of the Elbe River should also be revitalized, with a pathway planned to be created along it, and piers directly on the river. A bridge across the Chrudimka River is planned to connect the park to the city center. This new connection for pedestrians and cyclists will also link the Dubina district to the city center. The project is being developed by Ateliér M1 architekti s.r.o.
