Pardubice – Pardubice have completed the construction of a new kindergarten. Since 1989, this is the first newly built kindergarten in the regional city. The area in Svítkov is expanding and therefore needs a larger capacity for preschool education, city representatives stated today.
"We are very closely monitoring demographic developments; young families are moving to Svítkov. More than a hundred family houses will be built on the land next to the kindergarten," said Deputy Mayor Jakub Rychtecký (ČSSD).
Thanks to the new facilities, the Doubek kindergarten can leave its old building. It had a capacity of 50 places, while the new kindergarten has 25 more places. The new building has nearly passive standards and manages rainwater; it has three classrooms, a speech therapy room, and a sauna.
"The kindergarten has a partly copper facade; we created a building from durable natural materials. The floor is covered with natural rubber linoleum, and the doors and furniture are made of wood. We wanted to offer an environment that is pleasant and cultivated. The sauna was part of the brief; the city chose it for children's hardening," said architect Pavel Med.
In the classrooms, there is a glass wall with sliding doors that allows direct access to the terrace and garden. There is a playground with a softened surface and a track for balance bikes, along with a playground, bouncy equipment, and there are sandpits, mist areas, and a trampoline. "We are very satisfied. The classrooms are beautiful and well-lit," said the school director Markéta Štěpánková. The children will first come to the new facility on Tuesday; today is the open house day.
The kindergarten cost the city 63 million crowns, of which 51 million crowns were received from European subsidies.
