Pacov - Pacov in the Pelhřimov region has prepared an extensive renovation of the Sokol Hall from 1927. Work worth approximately 50 million crowns is set to begin in March. The modernized Sokol Hall aims to provide better sports and cultural opportunities in the town of four thousand inhabitants. It should be available to the public in two years. This was stated by Pacov's deputy mayor Lukáš Vlček (STAN).
"We want to completely modernize the interior, internal technologies. The interiors will be adjusted to be more usable not only for cultural purposes but we are mainly targeting the sports area. In Pacov, we have long struggled with a lack of capacity for public recreational sports," said Vlček. According to him, the Sokol Hall has not undergone a major renovation since its construction; only parts of it have been repaired. It has had a new roof for approximately 15 years.
The planned renovation is expected to increase comfort for people and bring savings in operating costs. Therefore, the modification of the boiler room, lighting, and air conditioning will also be part of it. The Sokol Hall will be barrier-free.
The Sokol Hall is one of the largest cultural halls in the town. Gyms are also located in the Za Branou school complex and at the grammar school. Some cultural activities will need to be relocated during the renovation to the castle and its theater hall or to the community center. Some clubs and the maternity center also use the Sokol Hall for their activities.
The town, which manages over 200 million crowns annually, will seek to cover part of the costs for the Sokol Hall from grants from the Vysočina Region and the National Sports Agency.
According to data from the contract register, Pacov will pay about 38 million crowns (excluding VAT) for construction work on the Sokol Hall, architectural and technical supervision will cost approximately 1.6 million crowns, and the project documentation was around 1.2 million crowns.
