Prague - The train station buildings in Beroun are set for renovation, with the Railway Administration now announcing a contract for an estimated cost of 244.6 million crowns. The platform hall, administrative building, and operational spaces will be repaired. The Railway Administration informed about this today. The construction is currently already delayed, as it was originally supposed to start last year.
According to the administration, the renovation will include a new facade and insulation, a new roof, replacement of windows and doors, surface modifications of walls and ceilings, flooring layers, and replacement of interior doors. New utility lines should be constructed for the entire complex of three interconnected buildings, and the station will be equipped with a cooling and air exchange system. Construction work will also affect underground levels, where new waterproofing of walls below ground level, basement space restoration, and moisture removal will be carried out. The renovation will further address the expansion of the information and camera system at the station. The platform hall is set for transformation, with ticket offices being relocated and additional commercial spaces created.
According to the Railway Administration, work on the renovation is expected to begin in June of this year and will last for 24 months. The renovation will be divided into phases, but the platform hall should remain available to travelers throughout the process, albeit in a limited capacity.
The currently announced contract is the second in the case of the repair of the Beroun train station. The first tender had to be canceled by the Railway Administration last year. The renovation is among the largest planned projects for the repair of station buildings this year.
For this year, the Railway Administration plans to renovate 116 train station buildings. In addition, preparations will begin for another 55 station objects. The modernization and preparations are expected to cost more than 1.7 billion crowns.
