Prague - The planned renovation of Branický dvůr in Prague 4 has still not begun. The Nusle town hall selected an investor and future tenant a year ago, but has yet to sign a contract with them. According to Mayor Pavel Horálek (ODS), the situation has reached a dead end, and a way is being sought for the investor to invest funds into the property of the municipal district. Originally, there were plans for a university of heritage care and conservation to be established in the building. According to Horálek, it is currently unclear whether the project will be able to proceed. The municipal district does not have enough funds to repair the dilapidated monument from its own resources. The costs could reach 160 to 180 million crowns. The repair should therefore be ensured by the company TCP - Vidoule, whose majority owner is the City of Prague. The company would pay for the reconstruction, but Branický dvůr would remain the property of the municipal district. It would rent the building to the investor. "We are currently resolving the way in which the company would invest funds into the property of the municipal district. So far, we have not been able to find a suitable legal model. We are already a bit impatient and nervous about it,” Horálek told ČTK. He added that if the situation is not resolved by the end of March, the municipal district will consider canceling the competition and announcing a new one. However, it is uncertain whether it would then be possible to find an investor who would set up the planned school in the monument. "If it is not a school, then I am afraid that a project of the type hotel or apartments will win. That would be regrettable for us. We would have to consider whether to go this route at all,” noted the mayor. The Nusle town hall had previously estimated that the project work would take a year and a half, and the reconstruction would take about the same time. The area of the former Dominican courtyard dates back to the third quarter of the 17th century. In the 1960s, it was declared a cultural monument. Of the original four wings, three have survived to the present day, including the bell tower from 1761. The monument is in poor technical condition; some time ago, the municipal district repaired the roof and conserved the building. It is also being monitored. The main city entrusted the courtyard to the municipal district in 1996.
