Nymburk – Nymburk will utilize the historic building on Palackého Street, which housed the town hall until 2004, to increase the capacity of the neighboring kindergarten by two classes and to serve as a center for seniors. There will also be apartments and offices created there. The city has completed an architectural study and has now initiated a selection process for a designer. The estimated cost of the documentation, which will also include the renovation expenses, is 2.5 million crowns. For the future reconstruction, the city will seek to obtain grants. The city's spokesperson, Marta Svobodová, informed about this in a press release today.
"The house has a rich history, and therefore deserves a sensitive approach. Given its location next to the Čtyřlístek kindergarten, we considered utilizing the building for the needs of the neighboring kindergarten and thus expand its capacity by another two classes, which represents 30 children, including connecting the adjacent garden with the existing kindergarten," said Deputy Mayor Zdeněk Vocásek (ODS). The upper floors will host a community center for seniors, offices for municipal organizations, and attic apartments. The study also includes the placement of an elevator.
The villa with a garden at the corner of Palackého Avenue and Maršála Koněva Street was built in the 1880s by the wholesaler and patron Jan Baptist Nebeský. The city acquired it in 1927, and from 1929 to 2004 it housed the town hall, later the Nymburk Cultural Center.
