Brno – The head of the Department of Urban Planning of the Brno City Hall has become Pavla Pannová, who has so far worked at the Pardubice City Hall. She will take office on October 1, stated Brno spokesperson Filip Poňuchálek in a press release. According to the deputy mayor Petra Hladík, her most important task will be to work on the new urban plan, which is to be completed by 2022.

The city informed about the departure of the former head of the department, Dušan Novotník, in March. Pannová was appointed by an extraordinary council, but she will not start until October. "Ms. Pannová convinced us during the selection process with her experience; she has been dealing with urban planning issues for almost her entire professional life. I believe she will continue the great collaboration with the Office of the City Architect of Brno, and the department will stabilize under her leadership," said Hladík, under whom urban planning falls.

According to him, two important tasks await the new head. "The first is to create a new urban plan in cooperation with the Office of the City Architect of Brno by 2022. The second is to deal with the multitude of binding opinions that the department must prepare," said Hladík.

Pannová studied at the Faculty of Architecture at the Brno University of Technology. This was followed by study stays at Kingston University and the University of Leuven. At the beginning of her career, she worked in a private architectural office in Pardubice. In 1998, she became the head of the Development and Strategy Department of the Pardubice City Hall. She then worked several years in the private sector, for example as a project manager. Currently, she works in the Department of the Chief Architect of the Pardubice City Hall. "Pavla Pannová is an authorized architect of the Czech Chamber of Architects, has passed exams in special professional competence for the field of urban planning, and is also an authorized judge in architectural competitions," added Poňuchálek.
