České Budějovice - The South Bohemian Region has five new cultural monuments. These include the main train station in České Budějovice and the building of the elementary school on Dukelská Street, a rural farmhouse in Vodice near Lhenice in the Prachatice region, a former Renaissance agricultural estate in Milenovice near Protivín in the Písek region, and the remains of a gallows in Rožmberk nad Vltavou in the Český Krumlov region. This was reported to ČTK by Kateřina Voleská from the National Heritage Institute (NPÚ) in České Budějovice.

At the building of the České Budějovice train station, the architect, according to experts, combined elements of Renaissance, Classicism, and Viennese Secession in his design. "From our perspective, the most valuable aspect is the degree of preservation of historical structures, such as stucco decorations and the overall appearance of the facades," stated Jana Štorková from NPÚ.

The elementary school in České Budějovice on Dukelská Street is considered by heritage experts to be a quality example of a school building. The expansive two-story, three-wing building has largely authentically preserved facade modifications. The Rožmberk gallows is a rarity, representing an early modern legal monument in Southern Bohemia.

"The farmhouse in Vodice is an example of a farmhouse belonging to a less affluent social class in the village, likely a cottage owner. Its simplicity with minimal decorative elements contrasts with the ostentation of enclosed farmsteads surrounding the local village square,” said Štorková. The agricultural estate in Milenovice is among the largest preserved Renaissance agricultural buildings of its type in the Czech Republic.
