Natura Park in Pardubice by Studio Nuance is completed

Pardubice - There is great interest among schools in the completed Natura Park in Pardubice, which was officially opened today. The center on the banks of the Chrudimka River already has bookings for next year. It will be officially accessible to the public from October 1st. Jiří Bureš, the director, told ČTK today.

The new building and exhibition will offer around 80 programs in the field of environmental education, tailored for the youngest children from kindergartens, elementary school students, and also high school students.
One area concerns nature recognition, where children can fish animals from a pond and identify their species. They will also felt wool, apply beeswax, and gather information about bees. They will try to make paper and learn more about recycling.
"We will also focus on interpersonal relationships, how blind people live, we have a program against bullying, and we will discuss global fishing concerning whale hunting. We will talk about the seasons," said Bureš.
The center can be freely visited by the public on weekdays and weekends. Visitors can walk through the exhibition on their own and complete various tasks with the help of seven sets of materials, such as ecological puzzles, tactile paths, identifying tree and plant species, or casting an animal footprint in the geological exhibition.
The new building, outdoor and indoor exhibitions cost about 50 million crowns, funded by the European Union and the Pardubice Region. The Ecocenter Paleta itself invested four million crowns into the project. According to Bureš, they saved for twenty-five years for this investment. "All the reserves we accumulated are gone," Bureš added.
The unconventional appearance of the fully barrier-free building, which almost touches the treetops on the upper floor, was designed by architects Tomáš Med, Jaroslav Krupa, and Filip Klozar. The structure is inspired by the basic shapes of a spider web; each floor is slightly rotated, creating a system of cantilevers.
One covers the outdoor classroom, another allows for the creation of a terrace. One arm rises above the bike path and approaches the tops of the trees. The basement is made of monolithic concrete below the level of the flood protection embankment. Two floors are wooden, painted gray and red.
