Prague - The new director of the National Technical Museum (NTM) will be former deputy head of the National Museum (NM) Karel Ksandr. CTK was informed of this by the spokesman for the Ministry of Culture, Stanislav Brunclík. Minister Jiří Besser (for TOP 09) stated on Czech Television that Ksandr will be appointed to the position next Monday, starting on December 1. Besser wants to hear from the new head of the NTM, among other things, when the museum will open to the public. According to Besser, information about the method and timing of the exhibition openings was a decisive factor in the final decision about the candidate. In the minister's vision, the museum could open in the first two months of next year. Ksandr will replace the former director of the museum, Horymír Kubíček. Based on the results of an audit, the ministry filed a criminal complaint against him and his economic deputy Oldřich Rambousek. The selection process for the head of the NTM at the beginning of November did not yield a clear winner. In the penultimate round, the decision was between Ksandr, lawyer Karel Kos, and architect Michal Crkva. The minister ultimately chose between Crkva, whom he considered a good economist, and Ksandr, who has experience in museum work. The minister stated that he offered Crkva collaboration at the Ministry of Culture or in one of the contributing organizations. He would like to utilize his economic expertise, which Crkva reportedly accepted. Ksandr served until this summer as the deputy of the National Museum for central collection development and exhibition activities. He currently holds the position of chief conservator of the museum. According to information on the museum's website, he studied art history at Charles University. He focuses primarily on the history of architecture and heritage care, and in the past has participated in research tasks in this field, being the author of the scripts for several exhibitions and articles in professional publications.
