Náplavka to the World - Invitation to the Festival

The bank of the Radbuza River is reopening its gates on June 3, 2016. This is already the third edition of the festival organized by the association to the world, which has been working for several years on the theme of utilizing and revitalizing public space along the Plzeň rivers against the backdrop of hosting unconventional cultural projects. However, the event, which will run throughout the month until July 6, aims for much more. In the words of festival coordinator Jitka Jirásková: “In the previous years, we succeeded in drawing attention to this place and finding a form of cooperation with the city and the waterways. This year is crucial for maintaining attention before next year, when the city will begin preparing the implementation phase of the actual revitalization of the embankment.” This year, the public has a unique opportunity to come and perhaps for the last time express their opinion on the embankment in its current state.
The program includes regular Friday concerts, popular Saturday mornings with yoga, and Thursday dance parties with workshops. This year's edition will also be linked with the Skupova Plzeň puppet and alternative theater festival and with the Dance Prague festival, which on Saturday, June 18, 2016, at 5:00 PM will feature a performance by the Costa Rican group Los INnato. On June 21, 2016, an international day of yoga will take place at the embankment.
“The theme and situation of the rivers in Plzeň will also be the focus of a three-day workshop led by architects supplemented by lecture cycles for the general public,” invites architect Hana Boříková.
In addition to the main program, visitors will have access to a bar, grilling, a boat rental service, and there will also be makeshift stairs providing access to the embankment from Wilson Bridge, pathways, sun loungers, and a free WiFi point.
The planned events are intended for the general public and are free of charge. We hope to contribute to the revitalization of culture in our city and provide people, just like in previous years, a place for mutual meetings.
