Brno - In southern Brno, in the district of Přízřenice, a new housing estate is set to be built. It will include 26 apartment buildings and nearly three dozen family houses, providing a total for 2100 residents, the group Hezké Přízřenice, which criticizes the plan, informed ČTK. The project, prepared by the development company REKO, is evoking mixed reactions even among locals. So far, ČTK has been unable to obtain further information about the intention.
Přízřenice is one of the southernmost parts of Brno. It borders the municipality of Modřice, the D2 highway runs nearby, and the Svratka River flows through it. The district currently has just under a thousand residents. In the coming years, hundreds more could join them. According to the plans, instead of fields on the outskirts of Přízřenice, over twenty apartment buildings are to be erected, some of which will be up to seven stories tall.
REKO has reportedly already acquired the necessary land, according to the mayor of the Brno-jih district, Josef Haluz, who noted that the land is designated for residential use in the zoning plan. He stated that he does not have further details about the project, as he is currently on vacation. He highlighted that a public hearing about the proposal is scheduled for August 12 at the town hall, allowing the public to express their opinions on the project.
Plans from the development company are already eliciting mixed responses. In the district, someone has put up posters criticizing the construction. "If you look out from your house at a field, it’s better than looking at another house and the neighbors in it,” pointed out the mayor.
In the past, REKO was involved in construction in Medlánky in the northern part of Brno and also built a complex on Křenová Street near the Svitava River in Brno.
