Prague - In Hanspaulka in Prague 6, houses inspired by the 1930s have been built. For luxury living in Prague's Dejvice, next to functionalist buildings in Baba, people paid up to 50 million crowns, Renáta Kodadová from ING Real Estate Development said today to ČTK. The project includes villas and duplexes, accommodating a total of 45 families. According to Kodadová, the apartments ranging from 216 to 700 m² are almost sold out. Residents of the new houses paid between 18 million and 50 million crowns for them. Interest in apartments at this exclusive address was primarily from Czechs, according to Kodadová. "We expected it to be about fifty-fifty, but 90 percent are Czech clients," Kodadová stated. The company then sold additional houses to Slovaks and Dutch residents. The somewhat austere, yet fully functional houses were built by the company in white-red or white-blue color combinations. Unconventional materials, such as tropical woods for floors, were used in construction. "For the project, we were inspired by the ideas of modernism from the 1930s - the lifestyle, design, and architecture, the project responds to the foundations of the Dutch de-stijl movement," stated Jiří Střítecký, co-author of the architectural design. De-stijl was represented by Dutch architects and artists associated around the magazine of the same name founded in 1916. The architects adhered to principles that new architecture should be elementary, economical, and functional. The layout is intended to blend exterior and interior spaces. "The primary expressive elements of the new villas and duplexes are the composition of overlaps of simple volumes and color planes that complete the appearance of the residential complex," added Střítecký. The development company ING Real Estate Development has built new and reconstructed old transportation infrastructure around the project. The total amount that the company has spent in Hanspaulka is not disclosed by the developer. Hanspaulka is named after Hans Paul Hippmann, who had a baroque chateau built here in 1773. The location offers a unique view of the skyline of Prague 6 or Prague Castle.
