Brno - In Pavilion D at the Brno Exhibition Centre, demolition is underway, as construction has begun on a large center for the popularization of science called the Moravian Science Centre. Workers started the work six weeks earlier than originally anticipated. Lukáš Richter, the director of the regional contributory organization Moravian Science Centre, reported this to ČTK. The center will cost approximately 630 million crowns, funded by the EU. The work is expected to be completed in the summer of next year, and the center is likely to open to visitors in December 2014. Construction began in June. "Currently, demolition and preparation work is underway to install additional technologies in the space," Richter stated. An exhibition will be created in the pavilion over an area of 3,500 square meters, with the main element being a river. Visitors will see various physical experiments and phenomena on it. According to projections, the center could attract up to 220,000 visitors annually, placing it among the largest tourist attractions in South Moravia. The exhibition is expected to be filled with interesting effects. Its creators promise that visitors will encounter surprises at every turn. The competition for the exhibition design was won by the company Projektil Architekti. According to Richter, the tender for the production, delivery, and installation of exhibits will likely be initiated this fall. The operation of the center will be overseen by the contributory organization Moravian Science Centre, which the region established this year.
