Vlašim (Benešovsko) - An exhibition titled "Club Heron" by Jan Kaplický began today at the Podblanicko Museum in the Vlašim Castle. It presents a project for a community facility at Konopiště designed by one of the most prominent architects of Czech origin and his studio Future Systems. The exhibition will last for a month, said the museum director Radovan Cáder to ČTK. "It is the only building that we currently know will be actually realized here according to Kaplický. Therefore, we wanted to pay tribute to the work and personality of Mr. Kaplický to a certain extent,” he added. According to him, the architect "stirred the local stagnant waters" many times before his death this year, so even people who are otherwise not interested in modern architecture know Kaplický's name. According to Cáder, it is not common for the Podblanicko Museum to present architecture. It does not have the experts or the facilities and technical support for it. "The intimacy of the exhibition allowed us to react quickly to the offer and to display the project,” Cáder noted. The exposition shows the development of the club through several panels, from a simple sketch to the final visualization. Further details are offered in the accompanying publication. The Club Heron was designed by Kaplický last year as a community building for the new residential complex Konopiště Resort. "The Heron is the heart of the resort and must provide people with a sense of warmth, which is why I placed an open fireplace in the middle of the club's café. Fire has always meant warmth to people and carries a certain symbolism of life. Here, it also has its significance. To maintain community and offer people a place where they can see and be seen,” Kaplický said about his design at that time. According to Daniela Pavlíková, the Heron is one of the two last designs by Kaplický. The other is Villa Kaplický, which will also be built as part of the Konopiště Resort project. The new residential complex is emerging near Konopiště Castle. It is the work of leading architects. Besides Kaplický, it includes contributions from Markéta Veselá, Svatopluk Sládeček, Radek Lampa, and Zdeněk Fránek.
