Mnichovo Hradiště - Mnichovo Hradiště wants to start renovating the town hall building this year. The costs will be around eight million crowns. The city intends to divide the work into two phases, one of which will be completed this year. As part of the first phase, the city will restore the original façade of the northern and southern fronts. The repair is set to begin in April, said Martina Kulíková, project manager of the Mnichovo Hradiště town hall to ČTK.

Restorers who, together with conservationists, mapped all the damages to the façade and decoration of the town hall in recent months were invited to participate in the project. As part of the repairs, the layer of old coatings will be removed, sculptures will be cleaned, and cracks in the sgraffito or sculptures will be repaired.

For the first phase of the renovation of the town hall, the city has allocated 3.5 million crowns from this year's budget. The leadership hopes to obtain a grant from the Ministry of Culture. The work is expected to be completed in October.

This year, Mnichovo Hradiště will also have the historic entrance to the town hall renovated, which is used by people entering the theater or the ceremonial hall. The city wants to restore the entrance to its festive and representative character. The vestibule will be painted white, the doors will be replaced with new solid oak ones featuring glass panels to bring lighting into the vestibule. The upper part of the doors will be topped with an arch. On the walls, a timeline capturing significant events associated with the city and its inhabitants will be created, authored by architect Zuzana Koňasová.

Before the start of the work in the vestibule, a survey will be conducted to see if the ceiling conceals a covered and forgotten painting. The city estimates the cost of renovating the vestibule at 1.5 million crowns.

Next year, the city leadership wants to repair the eastern facade and the tower of the town hall. This is expected to cost around three million crowns. However, this project is not yet certain. "It will, of course, depend on whether the funds are approved by the council in the budget for the next year," Kulíková said.

The Mnichovo Hradiště town hall is built in the neo-Renaissance style and was established at the end of the 19th century. It is one of the city’s landmarks, thanks in part to its atypical location in the center of the central square. Mnichovo Hradiště has approximately 8,500 inhabitants. This year, it is operating with revenues and expenses amounting to 187 million crowns.
