Mělník – The Mělník summer swimming pool is set for extensive renovations this year and next. The facility is not in good condition. This year's swimming season will not be disrupted. The investment will reach around 20 million crowns this year, which the city has already accounted for in its budget. The work is planned in several phases, Mělník City Hall spokesperson Jan Denemark Nováček responded to a question from ČTK.
"After the end of the 2025 season, we anticipate the renovation of the pools. Further work will follow in 2026. The complete renovation of the area is planned, including communications and facilities for visitors," Nováček stated.
The city has commissioned an architectural study for the shape of the renovation and is also gathering suggestions from the public. The pool structures are already at the limit of their technical lifespan. The buildings that serve the swimming pool are also in need of renovation. The paths and pavement do not meet modern requirements. Changes will also involve the greenery.
The swimming pool underwent a major reconstruction last in 2000; since then, regular maintenance and local repairs have continued.
This year, Slaný will complete the renovation of its summer swimming pool. The reopening after last year's renovation was complicated by ground shifts, so micropiles costing approximately 40 million crowns still need to be added. At the swimming pool, builders created a large pool with relaxation and sports areas, a children's wading pool, and new facilities. There is also a waterslide and a slide. The total cost will likely exceed 150 million crowns.
Kladno is also planning an extensive renovation of the Bažantnice Summer Swimming Pool this year. The work will begin after the summer swimming season. Costs will be around 112 million crowns excluding VAT. The current pool will be replaced by a new stainless steel one.
