Litoměřice - The Litoměřice City Hall wants to continue the reconstruction of the former brewery complex. The city will now apply for a grant to repair one of the buildings. They will look for an operator who would ensure the operation of a microbrewery. This was stated today by the city's spokesperson Eva Břeňová.
Last year, the city had the roof of one of the buildings repaired. "Now the councilors approved the application for a grant to revitalize part of the building located on the left side of the complex, towards Lidická Street," the spokesperson clarified.
The city is requesting 20 million crowns and is prepared to invest the same amount from its own funds. "We want to reconstruct this part and subsequently, within the framework of a public tender, find an operator who, assuming the installation of their own technology, would start the production of beer with a maximum output of up to 20,000 hectoliters per year," said Mayor Ladislav Chlupáč (ODS).
The Crown Brewery in Litoměřice ceased beer production in 2002. The city leadership was concerned that a market could be created in the historic center, which is why a larger part of the complex was purchased by Litoměřice. A park and a parking lot were created on the site of the former bottling facility. Now the city hall wants to gradually revive the production area itself.
One of the buildings could, according to the developed project, serve as a children's playroom or accommodation. Opposite the brewery is a Gothic castle that serves as a multifunctional center with a congress hall.
The microbrewery in the city has been operated by the diocese since the end of 2015. In Litoměřice, which is mainly classified as a wine city, there is also a microbrewery called Labuť.
