Líbeznice has a new firefighting station, and the surroundings have also been improved

Líbeznice (near Prague) – Líbeznice has a new fire station. Its surroundings have also been improved, and facilities for technical services have been added. The station was created according to a design by the Ehl & Koumar Architects studio. The construction cost a total of 30 million crowns, with contributions from the state and the Central Bohemian Region, and the municipality allocated 22 million from its budget. The fire station was ceremonially opened yesterday, announced the mayor of Líbeznice, Martin Kupka (ODS), to ČTK.

The municipality has been preparing the new fire station for several years and held a requested architectural competition for its design. "Líbeznice is receiving a new beautiful building and a new nice corner with trees. Just a year ago, unattractive metal huts and shelters stood right here in the center of the village. Today, there is a quality public space," said Kupka. The construction itself took ten months.

According to the municipal architect Jan Hájek, the design of the buildings returns to the traditional structure of the village. "The houses are most similar to a barn, embodying what barns bring to our culture – a certain generosity, simplicity, monumentality, and rhythm," he stated. The newly modified space is also complemented by eight original sculptures by Ivana Šrámková.

Until recently, firefighters were using inadequate spaces in the municipal office building. Their conditions and storage options for equipment have now significantly improved, not only for firefighting equipment but also for technical services. The final design of the station was repeatedly reviewed by both professional and volunteer firefighters, so according to the mayor, it should meet all requirements and provide a foundation for the further development of the volunteer firefighters' unit in Líbeznice.
