Lanškroun - Lanškroun has selected the winner of the public architectural competition for a study of the transport terminal at the train station. The winner is Atelier 90, chosen by the jury from six proposals. The winning study uniquely placed train and bus stops in multiple locations and did not engage with the existing building, said Mayor Radim Vetchý (Lanškroun Forum) to ČTK.
"An interesting aspect is that the station can serve as a viewpoint because it is located in an elevated area. The design provides for a place from which the entire town in the foothills of the Orlické Mountains can be seen," Vetchý stated. It will only be necessary to make some minor landscaping adjustments and remove invasive bushes.
As part of the competition's task, in addition to refining the space between Nádražní and Dvořákova streets, there will also be a parking lot with 50 spaces and a crossing over the tracks for cyclists and pedestrians. The bus section will feature five platforms, a waiting area for up to 50 people, restrooms, a bistro, a tourist information point, and a luggage storage area. The bike storage room will accommodate 50 to 100 bicycles, and the rental will offer 25 bicycles.
The city has been trying for a long time to purchase the necessary land for the terminal, which was only achieved this year. The competition winner will prepare the project documentation for the city hall. The originally estimated cost of 30 million crowns is likely to be somewhat higher, although Lanškroun will try to reduce it as much as possible. The city intends to secure a grant for the construction; if that doesn't succeed, it would build the terminal in phases over several years.
