Lanškroun - The town of Lanškroun in the Orlickoústecko region has started collaborating with students from the Faculty of Architecture at the Czech Technical University. Since the beginning of the winter semester, they have been designing transformations of public spaces. A ceremonial presentation of 24 student projects will take place on February 21, the town hall announced in a press release.

Several future architects are focusing on the area of the former agricultural courtyard between Dvorská and Bohuslava Martinů streets. Other students are proposing changes to the Brewery Square and a gap on 5th May Street.

The architects would place small structures at the swimming pool by Dlouhý pond. Another group of students is working on the placement and design of footbridges for pedestrians and cyclists. They are also proposing footbridges for running trails near the Lanškroun ponds and in the Brewery Garden.

"Each of the students chose a location in Lanškroun that intrigued them, which they viewed as problematic or where they saw potential for architectural intervention," said Mayor Radim Vetchý (Lanškroun Forum).

The head of the architecture studio, architect Josef Mádr, hopes that in the summer semester, students will also focus on Lanškroun and that the collaboration will continue. The completed projects will be showcased at a vernissage on February 21 in the town hall building. The exhibition will then continue from March 16 to April 4 in the LArt building.
