Kosmonosy - Kosmonosy in the Mladá Boleslav region are preparing a comprehensive renovation of the castle park over the next two years. In addition to the modification and addition of greenery, walkways, and benches, plans include repairing the wall, restoring the water feature, and installing public lighting throughout the park. The costs, the exact amount of which is not yet known, will be covered by the city from its own budget and with the support of the Škoda Auto Foundation. This is expected to be the largest investment in the coming year, said Mayor Eduard Masarčík (Citizens for Kosmonosy) to ČTK today. The castle, which houses a primary school, and the adjacent park are owned by the city.
Kosmonosy has commissioned a revitalization study and has also received approval from the heritage conservationists. Next year, the city wants to select a company to carry out the modifications and start the project. "We are going to turn this into a place that will be transformed into a recreational area, similar to the biotope project; we are planning a similarly extensive revitalization in the castle park," said Masarčík. The park area, including the open part of the castle, is intended for hosting concerts, theatrical performances, and other regular cultural events in the future. "We will also restore the pond in the lower part, and the central wall that divides the park into two parts will be created, along with relaxation and play zones," added Masarčík.
Next year, Kosmonosy could become the owner of another valuable monument in the city, namely the baroque Loreto. "We are currently negotiating with the Office for Managing State Property regarding a free transfer, and I believe that at the beginning of next year, we could take over," said Masarčík. The city aims to make the monument a more tourist-attractive location.
This year, Kosmonosy completed modifications to the natural area Obora, which includes a swimming biotope. The costs reached 32 million crowns.
