Prague - As the best furniture collection of this year's Designblok, the organizers today announced the Chips chair by Lucie Koldová. The lightweight armchairs, manufactured by the company Ton, are shaped like a potato chip and utilize the technology of hand-bent wood, which has been used in Bystřice pod Hostýnem since the 1860s. Today, Designblok awarded the best projects and creators of its 20th edition in ten categories at the Industrial Palace in the Exhibition Grounds. The Designblok awards were distributed across ten categories.

Lucie Koldová is among the most successful contemporary Czech designers, and she is also a well-known glass designer who promotes it around the world. She is the creative director of the brand Brokis and has received several awards for her work, including the Czech Grand Designer of the Year award. The Chips chair was presented for the first time at this year's Salone del Mobile furniture and design fair in Milan.

For the best collection of home accessories, the award today went to students Terezie Lexová and Štěpán Smetana from the Product Design Studio UMPRUM for their Mirror Stage mirrors, which have legs and can stand in space.

In the category of the best lighting collection, the jury, composed of journalists and editors of industry media, selected the One Zero lamp by Karel Matějka. The lamp consists of a spherical base, a long slender rod, and a small fixture at the end. An ingenious electronic balancing system allows the entire lamp to tilt and lock in almost all positions.

The best collection of jewelry was announced as the Kyō set by Katerina Reich. She drew inspiration from the world of Japanese art and the traditions of ancient Japan, particularly from the woodblock prints of Japanese masters Utamaro Kitagawa and Utagawa Kunisada, who created works in the 18th and 19th centuries and predominantly depicted the lives of geishas and courtesans.

The jubilee 20th edition of the international design and fashion festival Designblok will last at the Industrial Palace until October 29. It showcases the work of 343 designers, fashion designers, and jewelry designers. This year's festival programming and installations by both Czech and foreign designers intersect with the theme of Celebration.
