Kladno - Kladno will renew Freedom Square. A fundamental change will also be the management of rainwater. The costs will reach tens of millions of crowns, which will be covered by a European grant. If there are no complications with the tender, the modifications will begin this autumn. They will last for approximately one year, architect and Kladno councilor for development Ondřej Rys (Choice for Kladno) informed today in a press release.

The renewal will concern both paved areas and green spaces. The city will preserve some trees and will plant more, thus increasing the overall amount of greenery compared to the present. "Through the overall reconstruction, we will be able to create conditions for all rainwater to be retained there and to irrigate trees and other vegetation. Managing rainwater is one of the fundamental elements of the reconstruction," described Rys.

The building shaped like a ship, which serves among other things as a newsstand, will be demolished by the builders. The appearance of the passage through the square, which currently consists of diagonals, will also change. Water features and seating areas will be added, as well as covered bus stops.

The square is located in the center of Kladno and is also one of the bus transfer points. At the same time, it is situated between the main pedestrian street T. G. Masaryk and the Kladno municipality office, and is also close to the hospital and polyclinic. Several secondary and primary schools are also nearby.
