The Center for Central European Architecture (CCEA) has prepared another happening on June 15, 2017, at I. P. Pavlova Square to support the transformation of the main road into an urban boulevard. It aims to highlight the need for improved quality of the space around the main road, starting right in its "heart," at I. P. Pavlova Square, where more than 50,000 people pass through daily. Air – Movement – Sound I. P. Pavlova Square, Thursday, June 15, 2017, from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM CCEA in collaboration with interdisciplinary artist Michal Kindernay
This one-day happening was created in collaboration with interdisciplinary artist Michal Kindernay. Under the title Air - Movement - Sound, we prepared a series of interventions specifically for I. P. Pavlova Square. The purpose of the event was to discuss with the residents of Prague, who pass through the area daily, the possibilities of enhancing I. P. Pavlova Square and transforming it from a busy intersection into a square. At the same time, we want to inform the public about the movement of people, air quality, and noise levels in one of the less frequented places in Prague. The source of all information was measured digital data, which we processed into a comprehensible form and communicated with the public through a series of postcards and small artistic and social interventions.
The project is part of the European project Active Public Space. The project was supported by the European Union within the Creative Europe program. In August, we are preparing an exhibition in collaboration with Kvalitář gallery. CCEA has been dedicated to transforming the main road into an urban boulevard since 2010.
