Hradec Králové - The Hradec Králové Region is struggling to sell the monument-protected neo-Gothic castle in Skřivany near Hradec. The property has no use. The regional council approved a public auction for the castle today, with a starting price of 29 million crowns. This is less than in the previous two auctions, said the spokesperson for the regional office, Dan Lechmann. The region plans to repeat the auction of the monument on November 22. The proposal to hold the repeated voluntary public auction will be discussed by the regional representatives at their next meeting.

The council approved the proposal to sell the castle in Skřivany through a public auction at the end of March. It involves the sale of the entire estate, including the castle park with a total area of 41,500 square meters.

The first auction took place on August 7 with a starting price of 38.4 million crowns, but no bidders showed up. The second auction with a starting price of 34 million crowns took place on October 4.

"No bidders participated in this auction either. For this reason, the region reduced the minimum bid to 29 million crowns and plans to repeat the voluntary public auction on November 22," said Lechmann.

Including the related land, the castle is owned by the region. The operation of the building is managed by the regional Social Services Home in Skřivany, which previously used the premises for its clients. The castle served for years as a Social Care Institute, which ceased operations in 2017. Most recently, it housed war refugees from Ukraine.
