Prague - Tonight in Prague, various historical buildings and other locations will be illuminated with projections prepared by both domestic and foreign artists, participants of the first Prague Light Festival Signal. The exhibition will be inaugurated at 7:00 PM at the Old Town Square with the lighting of an installation called Hypercube by the French group 1024 architecture. The projections will take place tonight and for the next four evenings from 7:30 PM to 11:30 PM, and the entire festival is free. Among the most visible locations will likely be the Petřín Tower, which in the presentation by Krištof Kintera will become a lighthouse for the four festival days. Another one of Prague’s landmarks, the Dancing House, will also be illuminated. The organizers have invited prominent representatives of the audiovisual scene from abroad as well as well-known domestic artists. The installations will feature, alongside those mentioned, Vladimir 518, Milan Cais, Jakub Nepraš, Rony Plesl, and František Skála. According to the organizers, the festival aims to present Prague as a place where modern technologies merge the historic genius loci with contemporary art. They remind us that the play of lights and shadows, with its symbolism, has accompanied art from Greek tragedies through Renaissance styles to experimental film.
