The short course of lifelong education is designed for workers in both the private and public sectors. It will expand their knowledge and skills in the area of real estate development with an emphasis on a comprehensive approach. Graduates of the course will find employment as specialists in the field of real estate, in development, architectural, and design companies, in the management and investment of public assets, or in departments of development, urbanism, and architecture of cities.

Enrollment for the introductory course is open until September 15, 2023.

The interdisciplinary, professionally oriented program, organized by the Institute of Building Science FA CTU, emphasizes creating quality environments, sustainability, and integrating the perspectives of the private and public sectors. Development in practice aims towards simpler and smoother processes of planning and implementing built-environment development. These trends are today reflected in many national strategies and policies (Regional Development Strategy of the Czech Republic 2021+, Architecture and Building Culture Policy, recodification of building law, etc.) as well as in international policies and agreements adopted by the Czech Republic.

The program is four semesters long, but individual semester courses can also be taken separately. The first semester focuses on the project of an independent building, the second on site development, while the third and fourth semesters are designed as the elaboration of current topics in contemporary development. The study will lead participants to understand the development project as a process that has its phases and contexts, to the need for comprehensive thinking when creating a project, and to team collaboration. Participants gain a basic awareness of architecture and urbanism, the connections with planning and legal frameworks, learn methods of property valuation and project financing, and try procedures using an integrated approach to building design and value engineering. They also acquire fundamental knowledge in management and marketing and will reflect on the project's contexts from the viewpoint of public administration throughout the study. Real estate development takes place under the auspices of a FA educator and the Deputy Mayor of the Capital City of Prague Petr Hlaváček and the Association of Developers, the guarantors include among others the director of the Prague Development Company Petr Urbánek, the head of the Institute of Public Administration and Regional Studies MÚVS Vladimír Šilhánková, the head of the Institute of Construction FA CTU Aleš Marek, or the head of the Institute of Building Science FA CTU Michal Kohout. Detailed information can be found on the program page. The Lifelong Education (CŽV) courses in Real Estate Development are prepared by the Faculty of Architecture at CTU in cooperation with the Masaryk Institute of Advanced Studies as part of the project NPO_CTÚ_MSMT-16597/2022. Applications for the winter semester 2023/2024 are submitted until September 15, 2023, via the portal CŽV CTU.
