Chrudim - Chrudim continues preparations for the modernization of the sports complex, which the city took over free of charge from the Sokol Gymnastics Union in 2010. The city hall has already selected the winner of the public architectural-urban competition for the reconstruction of the gymnasium. A total of 27 proposals were evaluated, with Prague architects Vojtěch Sosna, Jakub Straka, Jáchym Svoboda, and Radek Rothbauer emerging victorious, said mayor Petr Řezníček (SNK-ED) to journalists.
"We want to present all proposals to the public in July, which is a mandatory part of the competition," Řezníček stated.
According to him, the winning proposal optimally meets the needs of the sports facility. It separates the so-called clean and dirty zones, meaning spaces for sports and for the arrival of visitors and athletes. It has resolved new buildings in the annex towards Opletalova Street, where there will be replacement training spaces. It also includes accommodation capacities and refreshments, and the entrance space will be modified. The energy demands of the facility's operation are also expected to decrease.
"There might be some discussion regarding the architecture of the proposal, but there is room for certain changes with respect to the locality. Every contemporary architectural proposal raises certain uncertainties. This is not exactly wilderness, but it will be up for discussion," the mayor added.
The costs for the Sports Center Chrudim should not exceed 120 million crowns excluding VAT. A more precise price will come with the project documentation and the competition for the construction contractor.
The sports complex, including adjacent areas, was taken over by the city from Sokol. It offers a large hall, a gym, a mirror hall, a gymnastics hall, a table tennis hall, and a newly added bouldering wall. The hall has been functioning since the 1970s and has technological deficiencies.
